Remember those Reagan ads, “It’s morning in America.” Well, it’s 3AM in America, everything is closed, we’re starving and John Kerry is the nearest Denny’s. He may not be your first choice, but hey, he’s open.
Here’s how the world has changed. In 1992 I went to a rally for Bill Clinton. We got there late, worked our way through the crowd, and got passed the velvet rope before the Secret Service pushed us back. To see Kerry there was a Secret Service check point that everyone had to go through, and the two single file lines went from The World’s Fair Pavilion in Forest Park all the way to the street. I stood in line for two hours.
At one point some young Republicans showed up and started shouting things against Kerry. The Kerry people started screaming “JOHN KERRY JOHN KERRY.” The Bush people started screaming “GEORGE BUSH GEORGE BUSH” I put my cell phone down and started screaming,”DO YOU GUYS MIND I’M ON THE PHONE! LONG DISTANCE!!!” The Kerry supporters thought it was funny.
