Andrea of Jetpack
So, I’m driving home and I’m listening to 89.1, The Wood and I hear this heavy, Toolesque guitar riff. Right away, I think either something’s wrong with my radio or I’ve got the wrong station since it’s The Wood and they’re not playing Coldplay, Sarah Maclachlan or Paula Cole. What was coming through my speakers sounded like Kidneythieves covering Forty-Six & 2. So I sat parked in front of my apartment with my neighbor’s poodle staring at me while I listened to the rest of the song, hoping that they’d back-announce it. The DJ came on and said that it was a local band called Jetpack and how they reminded him of being in junior high and listening to Radio Iodine, which makes me feel old since I was good and grown when Radio Iodine was hot and this muthafucka was in junior high, and now he’s a DJ. Anyway, the band is called Jetpack, and the song is called Burning Horizon which you can hear here.
It’s not that I don’t like Evanescence, it’s just that I don’t like most people who like Evanescence. However, if you like Evanescence, I would encourage you to listen to Jetpack, much in the same way I would encourage anyone who likes Andrew WK to listen to Monster Magnet or Barry Adamson.
