See, I really do have friends

                                       Cintia, Shannon, Sarah and Me.

My homey Sarah, from San Francisco was in town last weekend. We hooked up at South City Diner with Cintia, Shannon and Mel, all friends from way back in the U.City High days.

Cool thing about my girlfriend’s apartment: I get a call to go out at 11 o’clock at night and instead of getting in my car and driving somewhere, I walked to the two blocks from the apartment to the diner. It almost felt like living in a real city…

I act really differently around my friends from highschool. It’s kind of presentational, but in an odd way it’s more natural that the way I act around other friends, family and co-workers, which is shy to the point of being borderline autistic.

This was the first time the five of us have been together in five years. I know, big deal, but to me it’s historically signifigant. (click on the photos for more pics)

I graduated in ’92, so I came in the year after you left. I’m sure we know people in common. I was a drama geek, so I was in all the musicals on the yearbook staff. I was was also sotra down with the U. City Heights crowd and the goth kids.
Did they have goth kids in U. City in ’88?

Not that I can remember. It was still mullets and Jheri curls back then. Goth hadn’t hit us yet (you know STL is 4 or 5 years late on everything ;)). You may know my sister, she was c/o ’91. Bridget Richardson.
I wasn’t in any scene because we weren’t allowed to leave the house. I was on the TOM-TOM staff briefly, I had an interest in journalism, but I had to quit because my dad wouldn’t let me stay after school for the meetings. I was in THE WIZ in ’85 and BYE BYE BIRDIE in ’87. I got to stay after school for that, but not the TOM-TOM. My dad is a bad person…

I had such a crush on your sister. We were in Dreamgirls and Uptown/Downtown together.
Didn’t know her that well. She was down with the ’91, future leaders of America crowd and I was down with with the ’92-93 future college drop-ins crowd.
