Filmmaking is hell…

Cintia and Suzanne as Kayla and Iris

Making “Nighthawk’s Café” is kind of like the US invasion of Iraq: An action with unreal expectations and no clear exit strategy followed by lengthy and expensive occupation.

Last Sunday’s shoot was rough. The whole writer-director-actor thing is getting really, old especially when you add cinematographer to the list. After going through three dp’s, I gave up and decided to just do the lighting myself and have my producers operate camera. For the record it’s a really bad idea. It can work with enough preparation, but my lazy ass didn’t even make storyboards prior to this shoot.

Cintia, the female lead was awesome as per usual. She’s an actress of the first order, which only serves to highlight the fact that I’m a JV level actor at best. I would say ninety percent of the time she gives me what I want or better. Meanwhile, I’m just hoping I can salvage my performance in editing.
