It’s a bad time for morose subculture celebrities

I’m not a celebrity worshiper, but I’m really disturbed by the disappearance of Spalding Gray. I guess because he never seemed like a celebrity, but like this guy that I knew. I took a class from his brother, Rockwell Gray, when I was in college. I saw him live several years ago on the Gray’s Anatomy Tour.

I hate to say this, but I’m glad I saw him when I did, because it doesn’t look good. I never saw Elliot Smith when he came to Saint Louis, and now I never will.

While the rest of the world watches Michael Jackson and Kobe Bryant, I’m waiting weeks between updates on the Elliot Smith case….

  1. I’m glad that I saw him on the Monster in a Box tour. I couldn’t adequately explain to my friend what he did exactly. She thought it was going to be a lecture. She brought a notebook to take notes.
I hope that won’t be my only opportunity to see him.

  2. Not much. First it was ruled a suicide, but you know, who stabs themself in the chest? Then the coroner said there were two puncture wounds so it might be murder.
