Got back to Saint Louis this morning at 1AM. Soon I’ll have to write about my trip to San Francisco, but right now I’m just caught up in how good it is to be home. When you don’t travel a lot, it’s hard to shake that end of summer camp feeling you get when you’re leaving for home. They say contempt is what you feel when you’re more aware of what is absent in a situation than what is present. I guess I had contempt for Saint Louis a week ago that I don’t have now. It’s nice to be back in the land of level streets and spacious apartments and to have my car and be able to drive (even though I kinda’ hate driving) and know where I am. If I could just establish the correct rotation of leaving town and coming home the novelty of wherever I am would never wear off and I’d be happy to be anywhere…
