****whoosshhhh****(sky lights up) yeah, and i’m tripping a little! But mainly i have decided not to read all the ‘hoax’ reports, i never was that into reading interviews with/about him anyway, so no use getting worked up. ‘the heart is deceitful’ tore me up. i don’t care if it’s not autobiographical, it’s a true story. Very big inspiration on my own writing.
Well, I’ve never read any of his books, but I really liked Asia Argento’s The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things movie. I actually think it’s pretty funny that the author might not really exist. I mean, obviously, there was a person who actually wrote the books, but you know what I mean.
Good to know the movie is good. I love the book and was a little worried about what Asia Argento would do with it.
Yeah. I love The Heart. I’m almost afraid to re-read it now.
Well, the movie is very stylized, and I obviously don’t know how closely it keeps to the book, but I know that the author (whoever he or she is) kept a close eye on the production and seemed to like the final result. Before it showed at the last Philadelphia Film Festival, the producer got up to read a long and glowing letter from said author to that effect. That actually should have been a clue. It seems a little strange that the media assumes that Savannah Knoop is just some woman pretending to be the author. I mean, in the photos they show, “she” certainly looks a lot like a guy in drag. Since Knoop has the same last name as LeRoy’s foster parents, and she’s the right age, it’s not really too far out there to suggest that “she” really is J.T. LeRoy (or whatever his real name might be), and Savannah Knoop is the name that he’s living under now. That’s my theory, anyway.
I want to believe. But this “death” has me pretty rattled.
All I’m saying is that it might be a good idea to suspend judgment for a little while.
