Anything?

People always say, “If there’s anything I can do for you, let me know.”

When what they really mean is: if there’s something I can do for you, let me know.

Even the most well intentioned people  cannot deliver on the promise of “anything” and only the most selfish would expect them to.

When people say they’ll do anything for you, they’re secretly hoping that you’ll respect their unspoken boundaries and not ask for too much.

I discovered something: I have become  a pretty nice guy.

If I was still a Machiavellian head-fucker, I wouldn’t be sleeping alone tonight.
