2004 The Year in Wraith

Due to my general depression and complete lack of enthusiasm I might be tempted to say that 2004 was not a good year. But when I look back on the shit that I did this year, I certainly can’t say it was a bad one. I traveled more in 2004 than I had in any other single year, going to San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, and Washington DC. I saw some great spoken word: Henry Rollins, Alix Olson, and the National Poetry Slam. Saw the mutha fuckin’ Pixies. Between working with MoveOn.org, American Coming Together, escorting at Planned Parenthood,  The March for Women’s Lives in DC, The Pro-Labor March to protest Dick Cheney and the Anti-War March in San Francisco, I probably did more political stuff  this year than in any other.  After a lengthy vacation from the SM scene, I went to the Madame S Fetish Ball in San Francisco and Shibaricon in Chicago. I even performed at the Wabash Triangle Café Reunion and at Peace Out, which if memory serves, are the only times I’ve performed poetry since the summer of 2001.

And, of course, the highlight of the year was the six day road trip to Tennessee and Texas. Getting to hang out with my family, particularly my 3 year old niece, Brionna, was like the coolest thing in the world.

Not bad for an out of  shape, lazy, depressed guy with no money who procrastinates a lot and spent a decent amount of the year working the worst, social-life killing, asshole-hours in the travel industry.  Maybe with an ounce of self esteem and a couple dollars in my pocket I can actually do something in 2005.
